Waste Oil Furnaces

waste oil as a fuel

In mechanic shops across the country, waste oil is collected in a large messy vat where it sits until full, and then is emptied for a price. This is not only a pain for the company, but it takes money and wastes valuable shop space. It can even be an environmental hazard.

If this sounds like your shop, or someplace that you know of, it may be time to look into buying a waste oil burning furnace. Most oils in vehicles can be used as a fuel to save money on heating. Crankcase oils, transmission fluids and even the hydraulic fluids can be burned for heat rather than paying someone to remove them. You can even collect oils from restaurants (vegetable) and homes in the area. Many businesses can find that rather than being stuck with their waste oil, they are really blessed with free fuel. Waste oil offers nearly the same potential heat per gallon as fuel oil, and is found in abundance at: automotive shops, oil change shops, car dealers and service garages, large restaurants among others. The oil can be used as direct heat, or to heat water for other applications.

Often these heaters are available in a smaller footprint than just your existing storage tank, and the new storage tank is directly connected to the waste oil burning furnace unit for the ultimate in simplicity. Depending on how you would like to use your new waste oil heater, you can connect it to a thermostat, or just let it run while the building is occupied and let it override the current thermostat by heating the room up on its own!
